2017 Lexus LS Review
There have been a lot of new circulating various sites which stated that Lexus is planning to release a new rear-wheel-drive platform which is supposed to mark the start for a new generation of high-end coupe vehicles. The announced flagship vehicle is supposed to be the Lexus LS which is going to substitute the SC vehicle instead. The vehicle is going to be based on the 2012’s LF-LC concept car, which is going to copy the styling of the car. But the LS is actually going to come with a standard set of features that are not seen in the concept.
The current LS vehicle was firstly released as a 2007 model and marked the start of a new era of luxury cars. It went though numerous updates since then which were necessary as the competing rivals coming from Germany and Korea were dangerously threatening to undermine it. The latest update came for the 2013 model which saw the inclusion of a spindle grille to the LS’s new design. But now it is time for the new version of the car to come as the announced 2017 Lexus LS is ready for the upcoming year.
2017 Lexus LS Release date
The car was first seen with the released spy photos that emerged on the net and it was big news that told us Lexus was planning to develop something new for their lineup. It was quickly announced then that we were finally going to see the end product at the Tokyo Auto Show this year. Unfortunately the schedule was moved and the Lexus decided to go with their GS models for the show while the LS was moved for next year. Actually the 2017 Lexus LS is scheduled to be released next year as a 2017 model when fans will finally be able to see the production car in action and also really soon be able to purchase it. The movement of the release was not explained and as the main reason was the intention of Lexus to promote their GS line and leave the 2017 Lexus LS for the following year.
Design
As the initial design was seen with the spy photos the end result of the 2017 Lexus LS is more apparent with the recently updated version. As we get close to the release date it is becoming more apparent how the coupe is going to look. As we were able to find out at first and later confirm with the released images, the 2017 Lexus LS is based on the LF-LC Concept vehicle and it is reported that it will come out in both LS500 and the LS 500h variants.
The majority of the redesign of the car is going to come at the front end of it with the sharp and angular headlights that are going to combine with the newly added hourglass grille. This is a look that Lexus has been pushing for with its latest release and something that came as a standard to all of the upcoming models.
It has been implied that the car is going to come with a longer wheelbase which is something that is obvious as it needs to make room for the hydrogen system that is going to be added. The hydrogen tanks that need to be added are going to demand some remodeling under the sheetmetal certainly, so a change in dimensions is an expected decision that is going to be made for the 2017 Lexus LS car.
Interior
The car was reported that it is going to features an all exclusive inside. With many updates that the recent fleet of vehicles coming out of the Lexus production line, there is a certain expectation that this one is going to come with a spectacular setup as well. Making a car feel luxury is not easy but it seems that Lexus knows how to provide a certain experience. So we are expecting to see something spectacular inside. There are not many information available about the inside but the latest technical enhancements are something that are going to make it inside for certain. Also look for the enhanced quality of the materials that will be fitted inside as this is going to mark the beginning of a whole new era so better make the 2017 Lexus LS a good one.
Powertrain
As the new 2017 Lexus LS comes with in two options, the LS 500 and the LS500h one, it comes with different powertrain setups. The former is going to be the base levels which is going to use a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that is also used in the RC F and GS F mode, the later version is going to be a hybrid powertrain which is going to use a V-6-based hybrid setup that is going to enable it an output of 500 hp, as it is initially announced.
This is going to be a setup for the forthcoming initial release as there are some additional announcements made about the added variants that may appear later. One of them is the inclusion of a twin-turbocharged version of the Lexus 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 600 hp. But the greatest announcement is the addition of a hydrogen powered cell which is going to be specially developed for the future cars that come out for Lexus. The car is supposedly going to use a 295-horsepower electric motor and a two large hydrogen tanks which may provide a driving range to a total of 239 miles.
Price
The base version of the newest 2017 Lexus LS is going to come with a price tag of around 85,000 dollars. This is going to be confirmed in the upcoming period as the release date gets closer and as the development of the car gets closer to the end. With the inclusion of a hydrogen-powered drivetrain the figure will rise more than that and will certainly hit the 100,000 dollars mark.
