2016 Lexus ES
The new Lexus ES comes completely overhauled for the 2016 model year. The luxury sedan is going to be one of the better additions this year as it was largely updated to fit a more contemporary style. The vehicle has already made its debut as it was released to the general public in the Shanghai Autos show in 2015, but will get its official release date some time later this year when they are going to announced the exact date and give the fans an opportunity to purchase this vehicle.
It took a long way for the luxury sedan that we have today to evolve from its roots back in 1990. The car was first released as a ES 250 model, and sometimes later as a ES 300 model. It was not until 2002 that the ES separated from Camry, on which it was actually based upon, and started building its own legacy. After a few interesting model, the ES from Lexus comes back to us as a 2016 model in stellar fashion, promising to over reach the heights set by the previous cars.
We have provided some pictures of the Lexus ES to go with the review that can enable you to just how much the ES has evolved and what it is going to bring for the this year. We have also included the study of the price as well that might be of some help if you are thinking of getting one of these cars for yourself. The Lexus ES is already the best-selling sedan among midsize luxury vehicle, we think that this newest addition will certainly help it stay there in the top.
2016 Lexus ES exterior
The exterior of the Lexus ES has not changed the shape, so not a complete overhaul was introduced to the outside of the car. As the initial shape was kept there are some things that were aesthetically changed for the vehicle. On the front fascia a new spindle grille was added and is characterized by being made all from one piece. It makes it stronger and actually looks bolder, and the addition of satin chrome trim and the surrounding slimmer LED headlights make the complete front end design of the car possible. You may also notice a newly reshaped bumper bellow the grille with added foglamps.
The back has may gone through a larger change as the taillights have been reshaped and changed as well. The theme is an L shaped cluster that is formed at the back and with the addition of a rectangular exhaust outlet, new lid spoiler matted on the trunk and a revised chrome trim at the back as well make up the complete experience of the changes fitted at the back of the Lexus ES. The wheels are also new as it features an option of adding 17 inch alloy wheels and some different colors schemes which are new for the ES.
Interior
The previous interior design of the ES was already great to begin with, and some even view it as the most perfect design one could come up with a car like this. Yet there needed to be at least some changes for the 2016 model year and they have come in the form of minor alterations that do wonders for the car. It does not only make the car look good but provides a much needed refresh that boasts well for the inside. So they actually did not meddle with the design that much but just added some new features to it, like the Illustrious Piano Black wood, Bamboo with a matt instead of a gloss finish and Linear Dark Mocha wood as well. The Flaxen interior combined with the light brown upholsteries and a black dashboard looks pretty stunning for the vehicle now.
The technology in the Lexus ES, actually both found in ES 350 and ES 300h, are related to making connectivity better by adding Lexus Enform Remote with the Lexus Safety System. A Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, high-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Intelligent High Beam are all a part of the safety package. Optionally offered are a panoramic roof view and a Mark Levinson premium sound system.
Engine
Under the hood there are no changes, which was actually expected as the Lexus ES was already fitted with a nice engine and transmission option already. Actually we are talking about the 3.5-liter V-6 engine which can muster up to 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. The same VVT-i variable valve timing system is used as well and combines with to provide very nice fuel economy ratings that way. The calculated EPA rating comes to 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.
On the other hand the 300h trim will come back with its own 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. The engine can accumulate 156 of hp, while the total output makes it reach 200 horsepower. The EPA ratings for this option remain the same and stay at 40 mpg. It also has the ability to reach 0 to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds.
Price and release date
Heading into the new model year, the Lexus ES is sure to raise its prices a bit. For 2016 the ES 350 trim is expected to reach a price of $38,000 while the ES 300h will certainly be priced somewhere around 41,000.
