2015 Toyota Tundra TRD
Emerging out of the production line is the new 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD. This is a renovated vehicle which has been significantly improved by the TRD production which has been for years modifying and redesigning Toyota vehicles. This year, apart the mentioned Toyota Tundra, there are two more cars in line, the Tacoma and 4Runner have been also redesigned by TRD and have been given enhanced capabilities.
TRD actually stands for Toyota Racing Development, and it has been redesigning existing models from Toyota for years. Their job is to provide a vehicle with enhanced specs and overall performance. TRD offers various accessories and which have been added on Toyota’s trucks and SUV’s, making them ultimately better and fun to drive. What TRD hopes to bring with the 2015 Toyota Tundra is to give it better off-road maneuvering and capabilities.
Actually all of the mentioned trucks from Toyota have been enhanced with an additional off-road package. But the Tundra is the one which stands out form them all. The 2 inch enhanced suspension with new 18 inch wheels is just the start or rather the basis of TRD’s improving on the Tundra truck. As you can see from the provided pics, no obstacle is a challenge for the new Tundra and no terrain is attainable.
2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Exterior
The case with the exterior design is that the 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD does not show many changes or improvements. The car is a bit modest that for instance the Raptor, which offers all its extravagant changes and additions on the outside. Do not expect the Toyota Tundra TRD to be flashy nor extravagant in any way, the truck is essentially the same with just a few moderate refreshments.
The new 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD actually relies on its performance rather than on its looks. TRD has decided to let the specs and the overall performance and off-road capabilities do all the talking for the car. Some aesthetic features which were added are the dual TRD exhaust system and a TRD stamping on the bed panel. The true fans of the Toyota Tundra may actually notice the subtle differences from the base model but otherwise the changes are minute and few as the car focuses on what it can do and not how it looks.
If you are a die-hard fan you may also get the truck in the flashy and unique orange paint which is exclusive for the TRD pro series.
Interior
Although the changes of the exterior were kept to a minimum, the interior of the 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD has undergone a few interesting additions. The comfort level has been enhanced with the addition of some softer and more comfortable materials while the technological department and the dash have also gone through some changes.
The central console has been substituted with buckets instead of benches, the seats of which have been matted with TRD-specific black fabric with some red stitching to contrast it and give it more appeal. The door panels and the dashboard have also been given the same look and the some red stitching continue on there, making an exclusive new inside look for this TRD remodeling job. The driver’s seat includes a power-adjustable perch and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, which will enable you to find the most suitable position for your driving needs.
The instrument panel has been redesigned last year, so there was no need to go into that. The additions includes a much easier to reach audio system and an Entune touchscreen audio and navigation system.
Engine of 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD
Under the hood there are no surprises. The Toyota Tundra model has been using the same reliable engine since 2007 and so will the 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD continue on using it as well. The people from TRD recognize the potential of this engine and view it as the best possible choice for their remodeled version as well.
Toyota’s 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 is the original engine of the Tundra truck and it still works the same as the day it was installed inside the body of this vehicle. Great throttle response, a mid range torque and some serious maneuvering capabilities are the characteristics of this engine and is something which marks a benchmark for this brand. Perhaps the only downfall of it is the unbearable noise it can make, but all in all and excellent engine for an even better vehicle.
