2015 Lexus IS 250

2015 Lexus IS 250 exterior

The exterior design has been greatly updated. What is the first thing you notice is the new grille that has a spindle shape design with horizontal bars that fill in the upper two thirds of the front part. On the other hand the Sport F trim comes with the same grille but it its more aggressive form, with an all-black mesh that gives you a gaping feel to it. The sides feel more sculptured now with the new taillights that give it a dynamic feel. We finish it all off with a simple remodeling of the back that keeps the whole concept of the car tied together.

The car does not scream extravagance, yet it is not poor in its updates. We feel that it has been changed just with the appropriate amount so as to make the car changeable and more modern for the future. The IS may have had already done a great job in updating the outside look the past year, but this time they have only built up upon that and continued where they left off, making a great and marvelous job at the end.

 

Interior

The inside has not been tampered that much, design wise. Everything remains mostly the same with the only changes being tone of the interior with a new shade of gray and a piano black trim that adds a note of elegance to the inside. The tiered dashboard has an upscale design which goes appropriately with the interior concept while the center stack controls have been neatly and clearly laid so everything is kept simple and proper. Not complicating everything too much is perhaps the best way to go here. The shape of the wheel has also been changed, and in the Sport F version it is even more aggressive than here, but the LFA supercar-inspired digital instrument display is a nice touch to the IS.

The comfort is also a big deal here. It has been enhanced with the high quality material matted on the inside with high quality and well bolstered seats that support your back and make you relaxed even more. Thanks to the rescaling of the car, there is much more room at the back, but the trunk only offers 13.8 cubic feet of space, which may be enough for some people but we feel that it is not for most of the users. The standard equipment inside the car includes an audio system with eight speakers, CD player and radio with HD Radio capability, a seven-inch screen, MP3/WMA/USB and iPod handling, the possibility of streaming audio via Bluetooth 3.0 and voice recognition.

 

Engine

Under the hood there have not been many changes. The Lexus IS 250 will keep its 2.5-liter V-6 engine that rates 204 horsepower and 85 pound-feet of torque. Rear wheel drive comes standard for the 250 and all other trims while the all-wheel drive is optionally available. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard inclusion and this time there will not be a manual transmission offered as well. The gas mileage is OK but not great, the numbers state an EPA rating of 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway for 24 mpg combined, while the addition of an all-wheel drive can up the ratings to 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway for 23 mpg combined.

 

Price and release date

Although the date has not been confirmed yet, the release is expected till the end of the year. Lexus has decided not to reveal the release date as yet but the will not be able to keep it a secret for too long as they will need to disclose the information soon. The price on the other hand is an open book as it is rated at 38,333 USD for the Lexus IS 250.
